Tamil Language Society, Monash (MTLS)

The Monash Tamil Language Society is seeking affiliation with MSA Clubs & Societies as a new Monash club and we need your help by adding your name as a prospective member.

To indicate your interest in joining this club please select either an MSA+ Membership or Non-MSA Membership (above). 

Note:  there is no cost associated with 'joining' this club at this point. If sufficient expressions of interest to join this club are received by Thursday 23 April 2026, then the new club Applicant Group will contact you via email to invite you to the Inaugural General Meeting (IGM). At the IGM, a committee will be elected to start running the club from Semester 2.  

The main purpose of the club is to advance the education of the students of Monash University by—

1. Cultivating a strong sense of belonging for Tamil students at Monash by building a supportive community where they can connect over shared cultural values, language and experiences.
2. Encouraging the preservation and active celebration of Tamil traditions by creating consistent opportunities to engage with the language, classical arts and cultural practices in ways that resonate with university life.
3. Establishing a dedicated platform that authentically represents Tamil identity, separate from broader South Asian associations, so students can express their culture in a space that honours its uniqueness without generalisation or dilution. 
4. Exposing students to the richness and diversity of Tamil culture, including its language, literature, arts and global diaspora through shared experiences and engaging initiatives.
